Fixing wings to Rachel

Rachel asked us to help her with some performance art that she was planning, to give some exposure to the wonderful, wierd outfits she was creating in order that she could win a place studying art in London.

She asked if it would be possible to do 3 piercings down each side of her spine in order to hook on gossamer wings with butcher hooks.

The night was 'Sanctuary' at 'The Lemon Lounge' in Liverpool. All the preparation was done early in the evening. We massaged the skin of her back to loosen it from the connective tissue, in order to make the piercings easier. Her skin was cleaned and marked for position before the night started.

It was probably one of the most difficult set of piercings I've ever had to do. It was dark - VERY dark. There were some flashing lights and some UV lights that didn't help matters, either, and every time I started to make a piercing a huge amount of camera flashes went off around me. All I could see were blue flashes in front of my eyes. It's a good job we'd prepared everything beforehand. We'd worked on a breathing exercise that would reduce the chances of Rachel feeling faint and I'd whisper when to breathe in, hold and blow out over the din of the club. It all went really well and Shirley was left to look after her. Shirley got to be part of the 'show', wearing a strange outfit of silk and rubber tubing.

We removed the rings after about and hour and covered the wounds with occlusive dressings. There was no sign of them being there after a week.

We really enjoyed the night and would do it again at the drop of a hat. We'd like to thank everyone at 'Sanctuary' for a wonderful experience. Good luck to Rachel on her endevours 'down south'.

Piercing gallery

All of the piercings pictured on this page are of healed, established piercings (with the exception of the wrist, some of the microdermals and uvula piercings). There is absolutely no point showing photos of piercings that aren't healed. The whole point is to show nice, healed piercings many months, or even years, down the line. Any fool can show freshly made piercings that don't stand any chance of healing, which is why our photos don't show red or angry looking piercings, like most other sites do.
