Further research

Wikipedia
Wikipedia is really good for finding things out. Use the search box. Put in the name of the piercing you want to know about and you'll learn about the correct jewellery and placement and, sometimes, who invented the piercing.

BME Body Modification E-zine
BME is THE place to go for piercing and bodymod information. Some good write-ups of peoples experiences and some experiences that would make your toes curl

Body Piercing Forum

Some books that you might find useful.

Modern Primitives - Re-search no. 13
Really interesting book charting some of the history of body modification. Includes sections on ancient rituals and some interesting personal experiences. Loads of information about Fakir Musaphar.

The Customized Body - Ted Polhemus and Housk Randall
Ted Polhemus is a 'Cultural Anthropologist'. Makes for a very interesting read. Some of you may remember our radio discussion with Ted on Radio 5 live.

The Barbour Index
Guidelines written on behalf of the Certified Institute of Environmental Health. The best place to see a copy of this is at your piercer. If your piercer doesn't have a copy, you seriously need to find another piercer.

Acknowledgments of help with the website

When I decided to rebuild the website I knew very little about html or CSS because I've always used Dreamweaver to build my site for me. I was gutted to find my copy of dreamweaver couldn't do css sites, but was determined to learn. There are a massive number of websites that can teach you css. These are the sites that I have most relied on for help. A really big thank you goes out to all these people. Thanks for the adventure. It's really satisfying writing the code and making things work. Gives you a sense of a job well done.

Stu Nicholls at CSS play
Stu Nicholls has the most amazing website for those who are new to CSS and those who want to learn more. It's worth spending the time to look at some of his experimental stuff. The streaker is sooo funny - I nearly fell off the chair.

Davesite.com
Very simple, easy to follow tutorial for css beginners. Explains everything with examples and excercises along the way.

Webrefernce tutorials
More tutorials on html and css. Got a load of great tips for positioning.

Peter Nederlof
For his whatever:hover script so that css menus fold out in internet explorer. Thanks Peter.

Clare at Tanfa
Clare has a wonderful tutorial for turning an unordered list into a css menu that works in ie using Peter Nederlof's whatever:hover. Makes the menu a much smaller file size.

Check us out

Don't take your piercers word for it. As you obviously have internet access, do a search for the piercer you're thinking of using.

If you check our links page, there are some links to some experiences on BME (Body Modification E-zine) and some mentions on forums, just so you know we're to be trusted.

It's worth checking out our guestbook, too.
